Gil Izquierdo was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City in 1971 where he exclusively resided until 1985.
He graduated from Miami-Killian Sr. High School in 1990. In 1992 he graduated from Miami-Dade College with an Associate in Arts and made the school Dean's List, as well as the National Dean's List. In 1994 he graduated Cum Laude from FIU where he also made the Dean's List earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and a Minor in Criminal Justice.
While in law school at the Catholic University of America, in Washington, DC, Gilbert Izquierdo interned on Capitol Hill for Congressional Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtin and in the Department of Commerce during the Clinton Administration. He briefly studied abroad at the 1996 International Business & Trade Summer Law Program in Cracow, Poland.
His law school's extracurricular activities included his participation in Moot Court, the officer in Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and involvement in two different litigation clinics: Elder Law Clinic and D.C. Law Students in Court, Criminal Division. In the Elder Law clinic, Gilbert Izquierdo litigated and won his first divorce case where he successfully defended his client by denying his spouse any form of alimony, lump sum equitable distribution, and any obligation to pay attorneys fees or costs. In the D.C. Law Students in Court, Mr. Izquierdo successfully argued before the Washington D.C. parole board, and secured the release of his assigned client who was a career criminal.
All of this success was obtained in law school alone, a sign of future success in court. Gilbert Izquierdo graduated from Catholic University in 1998, during the school's 100th anniversary. After Law School, he worked for a small personal injury firm which he left to open his own office in 1999.
Gilbert Izquierdo began his own practice with criminal law, family Law, and some immigration cases. He has an undefeated trial record in criminal cases wherein he obtained acquittals for clients in both jury, as well as bench trials. He also successfully represented the wife of the President of Venezuela, Carlos Andres Perez, in her asylum claim.
Commencing in the year 2003, Mr. Izquierdo limited his practice area solely to the area of law that he enjoys the most —Divorce and Family Law.
